Sophia
Housing is a weaving of holistic support for marginalised people
to enable them to become aware of their own inner strengths and
potential, so that they may participate fully in society. Sophia
Housing provides accommodation and a safe place where one can
seek wisdom of mind, heart, soul and spirit, a space which
welcomes people who want to step back from the many pressures of
their daily lives and environment.

To realise this vision
Sophia aims to provide:
Housing
Sophia Housing provides different types of accommodation for
people who are “out of home”.
This includes Transitional and Long-term accommodation.
Support
Services
Individual support, programmes, group work and outreach.
Transition Programme
In our
Transition Programme we help people help themselves in a one to
one practical way and in groupwork.
Our Tenants are coming from a homeless
background or at risk of becoming homeless.
We work alongside people in addressing their issues of
what led them to be homeless.
There can be issues in relation to domestic violence,
sexual abuse, drug and alcohol misuse.
Physical disability such as following a car accident or
an accident at work can leave a person instantly homeless. We
work alongside people in addressing their issues as mentioned
working in collaboration with outside agencies. We
cover topics such as home management, budgeting, cooking, and
parenting skills, literacy skills, confidence building, and
stress management.
Groupwork can also be carried out through the medium of art,
relaxation, drama, outings and holistic therapy.
Nurturing Centre for Children
Sophia is
committed to providing a safe, high quality, hygienic,
stimulating, caring and holistic environment where children can
reach their full potential, physically, intellectually,
linguistically, emotionally and socially. Children
have their unique place in Sophia and to address their needs we
have a Childcare Resource Co-ordinator and two Nurturing Centres
with qualified childcare workers and assistants.
Training
In our
projects we support people to pursue educational, professional
goals that can lead to self development, employment and
economical independence.
Collaboration
Sophia works alongside other non profit organisation, Government
Agencies, Health Care Providers, Religious congregations and
local area Resource Groups to support partnership approach to
creating healthy communities. My role as Services

One is a New Development of 50, 1, 2 and 3 bed apartments
for single people and families.
This Project is in south inner city of
Dublin
and was opened by President Mary McAleese, last year.
The second Project is six Apartments for families in
another part of Dublin.
Wisdom
Centre
In our projects we will have a Wisdom Centre which is a quiet
space where people get in touch with their own creative energy
through holistic programmes.
