Cregg House, Sligo
2007 proved to be a truly memorable year with -
-
The unveiling of the future plans for Cregg House by Sr Jean Quinn, and the presentation of the Chapter Declaration by the Leadership Team at our ‘A New Day is Dawning’ celebrations with family members, service users and staff
-
the visit of Minister Devins to ‘Avalon unit’, our newly refurbished, artistically and tastefully decorated interim children’s unit, and the restoration of our children’s respite services
the welcome return of light to the Convent building which was so generously vacated by the Sisters to accommodate service users, and the opening of ‘Coney View’ for nine individuals from Special Care during essential maintenance works -
the welcome echo of construction work around our corridors, as service buildings and units were transformed and rejuvenated, to meet the changing needs of service users
solid inroads and momentum was achieved in shaping our vision for the future as specialists sub groups and our Implementation committee with the HSE, worked with increasing vigour, to collectively mould our Strategic Development Plan -
The purchasing of two bungalows in partnership with Sophia Housing Association to support individuals with mobility or other health challenges to remain in the community
-
The completion of Corporate and site specific Health & Safety Statements and risk assessments for all service areas, and we welcome the launching of this document in early 2008
-
Service users’ advocacy charged to new levels, as we welcomed the establishment of service user advocacy committees, service users trained as Eucharist Ministers, involvement in staff recruitment, welcoming committees, and designing our Christmas card
Each milestone reached is a testament to staff individual and collective actions, their unrelenting commitment and motivation to create a better service for individuals in our care. In the absence of this wholehearted support and enthusiasm, such progress and quality outcomes would not have been possible. On behalf of everyone within Cregg House, but especially on behalf of individuals who may not be able to articulate their gratitude, a sincere thank you for your many positive actions and contributions.
The coming year promises to be one of sustained activity as we collectively forge ahead with our service development plans. We thank each one of you for all your support, energy and commitment to this process, and we look forward to continuing our journey and embracing the future in partnership together.
